Sunday Teams Wrap Up – 28th April 2019

Sundays are getting big for the Falcons with our 3 girls teams, 2 SANFL Junior Boys teams and of course our 2018 Premiership winning C-Grade Team all playing. And that’s before our Sub-Junior teams begin this week.

Last Sunday was the first week back for our C-Grade and SFLW teams.

All 3 of our Women’s teams played away and we had 3 GREAT wins. Their pre-season has obviously paid off.

Under 14 SANFL Boys:
Payneham 73 – Flagstaff Hill 27
Goal Kickers: B. Gallacher 2, R. Young, R. Stone
Best Players: B. Gallacher, J. Keating, E. Dixon, P. McAvaney, J. Penter, R. Stone
Coach: Damien Keating
The Under 14’s travelled to Payneham to face another group of Falcons on their home deck. The lads hit the ground full of running scoring the first 2 goals of the match before things evened up a bit and they came back at us. We had a sniff at three quarter time but the massive oval may have taken its toll as the boys seemed to run out of puff and we couldn’t peg them back. Overall a fantastic effort, with a special mention to the 3 lads from the under 13’s who had cracking games. This developing group will continue to improve.

Under 16.5 SANFL Boys:
Flagstaff Hill 76 – Rosewater 90
Goal Kickers: K. Vanzetta 5, J. Richman 2, S. Baltagie, T. Warren, H. Beenham, B. Aldridge
Best Players: K. Vanzetta, T. Smith, R. Newall, S. Baltagie, T. Warren, A. Marker
Coach: Paul Hollands and others.
Another unknown for our first SANFL home game against Rosewater, it ended up being a cracking game of footy with the lead see-sawing all day, unfortunately we didn’t finish off the last quarter and had a close loss. This competition is going to be tough all year but is going to be a great challenge that the boys are up for.

SFL C-Grade:
Flagstaff Hill 30 – Reynella 129
Goal Kickers: S. Roberts, D. Crisa, S. Baltagie, T. South
Best Players: A. Peterson, D. Crisa, C. Wright, H. Gebhardt, T. Chomenko
Coach: Wade Stone

Under 14 Girls:
Hackham 6 – Flagstaff Hill 45
Goal Kickers: E. Comley 2, B. Watson 2, A. Clancey, C. Salter
Best Players: B. Watson, E. Hodgson, E. Comley, I. Russell, A. Fox , G. Baker Coach:Anthony Field
U14 girls faced up to Hackham Hawks on Sunday. First game of the season nerves were showing and excitement was high. The motto was “take the game on” and the team certainly did. The girls backed themselves, showed great composure, used their voices and celebrated every goal in the Flaggy way. I was so proud of all the girls, only two of which played for Flaggy last year, they gelled brilliantly as a team. The girls were ahead all game and ran out winners 6.9 to 1.0, bring on the rest of the season!,

Congrats goes out to Emma Comley, Brooke Watson, Chelsea Salter, Ashlie Clancey, Gabriella Baker, Imogen Russell, Emma Hodgson, India Howes, Ciana Rivett, Hannah Smailes, Cascia Smailes, Seyssa Bayliss on making your Falcons debut.

Coaches: Luke Beenham & Michael Hegarty
The girls kicked off their season against Noarlunga. A bit of an unknown were the opposition being a new team, but the girls came out firing kicking 10 goals in the first quarter and continued to play an outstanding team game throughout the match. In what was a very one sided game, the girls exhibited great skills and moved the ball well from defence. We had a very even contribution from all the girls with everyone kicking a goal! Congratulations to each of our first gamers who all played fantastic.

Congratulations goes out to Isabel Crowther, Stephanie Wheatland, Jaela Manning and Ali Hodgson on making your Falcons debut.

Open Women:
Hackham 0– Flagstaff Hill 26

I am particularly proud of the way the women embraced the challenges thrust upon them and the passion they showed. Now we look toward next week and what will be a tough challenge against the Wineflies, but I am confident all of the girls are up for it.
Thanks to all the support staff who made it happen on Sunday.
Let’s soar in 2019.

Congratulations goes out to Anastasia Ritchie, Makayala Ritchie, Nicole O’Connor, Hannah Griffin, Zoe Dixon, Meghan Bell, Lanie Williams, Carli Morton, Alana Baker on making your Falcons debut.
